I cannot recommend Martyn and Jack enough. I came across them online and was desperate to book them for the drinks reception at our wedding, even though they're based in Leeds and our wedding was in Chichester. I thought it wouldn't hurt to get in contact and Martyn got back to me quickly with a very reasonable price, even though it meant a lot of travel for them and staying the night in Chichester. In the lead up to the wedding Martyn was very quick at answering any questions and confirming arrangements. On the day itself they were just fantastic! They set up in plenty of time, looked incredible and of course most importantly their music was phenomenal! We have had SO many comments on how incredible the guys were and my biggest regret of the whole day was that I didn't hear more of their music as I had to go off for photos. Guests informed me Jack even started tap dancing! I cannot recommend these guys enough and I am so thankful to them for helping to make our wedding day as fun as it was. Thanks guys!
A goodtime 1920s style street band.
With Washboard, Guitar, Banjo & Ukulele this duo brings the sound of old-time blues, popular song, jazz and ragtime to life.
Favourite songs include; I’ve Got Rhythm, Walk Right In, Hey Good Looking, When I’m Cleaning Windows, Jungle Book to get those George Formby, Louis Armstrong and Hank Williams sounds happening.
The Washboard Resonators hail from Leeds in England and can be described as sounding and looking like ‘a ragtime street band meets a Hollywood musical on a theatre stage somewhere in around 1932’.
The spirit of these long gone artists and their music is summoned back to life every time Martyn and Jack take the stage with their mixture of old traditional songs and new songs written by the band.
Formed in 2014 they started out busking while playing together in blues trio Leeds City Stompers. Word spread and quickly the duo was in demand, playing many times per week. This lead to many major festivals and shows such as The Great British R&B Festival and Upton Jazz Festival as well as completing tours of the whole of the UK every spring and winter.
